On a 4620 printer even with a new cartridge (I tried two new ones) and ran the clean the printhead)

HP Recommended
hp 4610 (all in one) etc. officejet
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 2 or 3 year old HP officejet 4620 printer that will not print BLACK. I have cleaned the printheads 3 times, used drops of warm water , (all the tricks I have read in the forum) but the black will not print. All the colors print just fine. All the cartridges are HP. I am stumped!

Hi @rtdpharmacist,

  

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

I appreciate the reply. But I went through the warm water routine a second time and did 3 "clean printheads" again and the printer started to print dimly. Then I printed several pages and it darkened the print. So now it works again. Thank you for the response, though.
