Hi @JatinC

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is only printing black and magenta colors, and yellow and cyan are not printing, there could be several reasons for this issue. Let's go through the potential causes and troubleshooting steps to help you fix the problem:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the cyan and yellow ink cartridges aren't empty or low. Even if you have new cartridges, sometimes they might not be installed properly or could have been faulty.
    • You can check the ink levels either from the printer's display screen (if it has one) or by using the HP Smart App or the HP Printer Software on your computer.
    • If either cyan or yellow is low, try replacing those cartridges.

2. Clean the Printhead

  • Sometimes, the printhead can get clogged, especially if the printer has been unused for a while or the ink cartridges were low or empty.
    • Most HP printers have an option to clean the printhead from the printer's menu or the HP Smart App on your computer.
    • To manually clean the printhead, power off the printer and remove the ink cartridges. Then, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the printhead. Be very gentle and avoid touching the electrical contacts on the cartridges.

3. Check for Printhead Alignment

  • Misalignment of the printhead can cause certain colors not to print correctly.
    • In your printer's settings, there should be an option to align the printhead. This can usually be found under Printer Maintenance or Tools in the printer's menu.
    • After alignment, print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

4. Ensure Cartridges Are Installed Correctly

  • Sometimes, the cartridges may be installed improperly, causing them to not work as expected.
    • Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and carefully reinstall them. Make sure each cartridge is seated correctly in its designated slot.
    • If the cartridge is still new and the error persists, try swapping it with a known working cartridge to see if the issue lies with the cartridge itself.

5. Run HP Printer Diagnostic Tools

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: This is a free tool from HP that can automatically diagnose and fix common printer issues, including problems with ink cartridges, printheads, and more.
    • Download it from the official HP support page.
    • It will run tests on your printer and recommend solutions to fix the problem.

6. Check Printer Settings

  • Print Quality Settings: Sometimes, the printer settings may be configured to print in black and white or grayscale only.
    • Go to your printer properties on your computer (Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click on your HP printer > Printer Preferences).
    • Make sure the print settings are set to Color and not Black & White or Grayscale.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
