Hi @Andywhatever,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a setting or configuration issue with your HP DeskJet 2630 printer when printing from your iPad and iPhone. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this.
Check Printer Settings on iPad and iPhone:
- Open the document or photo you want to print on your iPad or iPhone.
- Tap on the Share button or Options (depending on the app) and select "Print".
- In the Printer Options, make sure that the printer selected is your HP DeskJet 2630.
- Tap on "Options" or "Printer Options" to expand the settings.
- Look for a setting that might be defaulting to black and white printing. Ensure that "Color" or "Auto" is selected instead of "Black & White" or "Grayscale".
Check Printer Settings on the Printer:
- On the printer control panel, navigate to the settings or setup menu.
- Look for any settings related to color printing preferences.
- Ensure that color printing is enabled or set as the default option.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues. Check HP's support website for instructions on how to update the firmware of your HP DeskJet 2630.
Reinstall Printer on iPad and iPhone:
- If the issue persists, delete the printer from your iPad and iPhone settings.
- Re-add the printer by going to Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Choose a Network. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect.
Check Printer Drivers on Husband's Laptop:
- Since your husband's laptop can print in color, ensure that the printer drivers on his laptop are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue of your HP DeskJet 2630 only printing black and white from your iPad and iPhone.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
