Other color cartridge became depleted after i replaced the cyan cartridge although the other color ink cartridge still have a lot of ink left. Can it be solved without me buying new cartridge for other color? (HP Officejet 9730)

Hi @OK1310 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're experiencing could be caused by the printer misreading the ink levels, or it might be a result of the replacement process itself. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem without buying a new cartridge for the other color:
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the cartridge error resolves.
Reinstall the Cartridges:
- Remove the cartridges (including the one you just replaced) from the printer.
- Inspect the cartridge to ensure it has no protective tape or packaging still attached.
- Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place correctly.
- Check if the error clears.
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes, the printer's firmware may cause errors with cartridge readings. Check for any firmware updates for your HP OfficeJet 9730 via the printer's settings or the HP website.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- You can perform a factory reset to clear any errors in the printer's memory. This will erase any custom settings, so only do this if you're comfortable reconfiguring your printer afterward.
- To reset: Go to the printer's settings, find the "Restore Defaults" option, and follow the instructions.
Clean the Cartridges and Contacts:
- Gently clean the ink cartridge contacts and the printer's contact points using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in water. Dirt or ink buildup may cause the printer to misread the ink levels.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
