Product: HP PageWide Pro 577dw
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Our 577dw printer no longer prints any text from document (word, excel) No matter what we prints, only little boxes show up on the printed paper.  (See attached photo I  attach) This happened on Monday when we returned to the office. Our 577dw was working fine and strong last Saturday.

 

We have spent the past 3 days fixing everything we can think of, checking  printer’s printing function, update driver, computers, wifi network, firewall…. Still only get boxes, Graphics, and images. That’s a mountain of paper waste! 

 

I saw a  law office also reported a problem exactly like this few days ago, the record showed that the problem’s been solved, However, use postscript to print can only print color, no black&white option. Please help me to find a solution to print normally using AirPrint . Thanks.

Downgrading the firmware to version MAHDWOPP1N001.2105D.00 worked for me. Nothing else did.

The only remaining issue is that it keeps trying to download the garbage firmware update, even after I shut off updates.  HP, get it together and support your products... do better!

Our HP 577dw warranty just expired... That was the reason we purchased a new HP printer 3 years ago.... firmware issue
