Hi @CPoveda1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is displaying an error message stating that the printhead is missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printhead Installation:

  • Ensure that the printhead is correctly installed in the printer. Open the printer cover and make sure the printhead is securely seated in its place.

Reinstall Printhead:

  • Remove the printhead from the printer and then reinstall it. Ensure that it snaps into place securely. Follow the printer's user manual for guidance on installing the printhead.

Inspect for Protective Tape:

  • Check the printhead for any protective tape or packaging material that might still be attached. Remove any such material before reinstalling the printhead.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back, and wait for about 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Check the HP support website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.

Clean Printhead Contacts:

  • Power off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Open the printhead access door.
  • Remove the printhead.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and in the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely.
  • Reinstall the printhead and close the printhead access door.

Replace Printhead:

  • If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's possible that the printhead may be faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
