@Nikgui7, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is printing pages that look like it's low on ink even though the ink levels show as half full, there are a few possible causes and steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Check Ink Cartridges
- Even if the ink level shows as half full, the cartridge could be clogged or dried out.
- Remove the cartridges and check for any dried ink or debris on the nozzles.
- Gently clean the nozzles with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
Run a Printhead Cleaning
- On your printer’s control panel or through the HP software on your computer:
- Go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead (or similar depending on your model).
- Run the cleaning cycle once or twice and print a test page.
Print a Diagnostic Page
- This helps identify if the issue is with a specific color or printhead.
- You can usually find this under Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
Update Printer Firmware
- Outdated firmware can sometimes cause incorrect ink level readings or print quality issues.
- Visit HP support site and enter your printer model to download the latest firmware.
Try a Different Cartridge
- If cleaning doesn’t help, try replacing the cartridge—even if it shows ink remaining. Sometimes sensors can be inaccurate.
Check Paper Type and Settings
- Make sure the paper type selected in the print settings matches what you’re using.
- Using the wrong setting can cause ink to not adhere properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
