After not using my printer for awhile I tried to print black txt on photo paper. It printed

out in light blue. If I choose regular paper it will print in black but not a dark black. If I choose photo paper it will print out light blue. I bought a refurbished printhead on Ebay

hoping that would fix it but the printhead was worse than mine so I sent it back. Also I tried a printhead alignment and it failed. The colors across the print out  top were

Black bar touching a red touching a blue touching a yellow then a blank spot the a long black bar. Everything else looks good. Test print look good. Just can't print black if I choose photo paper. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

I don't think it's my computer. I tried printing a black and white photo from the SD slot on my printer without being connected to my computer and what should have been black was printed in blue. When I print an alignment test print from the printer it fails. The only thing on the printout that's different than a good printout I saw online was there was a space between the yellow bar and the long black bar at the top of the page. Could it be the printhead ? Even tho I tried a refurbished printhead and it didn't fix the problem I'm not sure the refurbished printhead was good since I also had other errors show up. The main problem is when I print black text on photo paper it prints light blue text not black. Do you have any ideas why it does that or is my printer shot. I can print documents fine on regular paper. Thanks for you response.

Are you able to copy well from the Printer?

I do not have the capability to copy from my printer except from the SD disks which I can copy something on a SD disk and paste it to my computer.

I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this as this could be a hardware issue.
