When I go to print out pictures on photo paper they come out red, however on plain paper they come out fine.  Why does this happen and how do I fix it.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing Issues: Red Color on Photo Paper!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issue of your pictures printing out red on photo paper, but correctly on plain paper, can stem from a variety of reasons including incorrect paper settings, driver issues, or even print cartridge problems. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings:

Ensure that the printer settings match your photo paper type. Incorrect settings can lead to color misprints.

Paper Type Setting:

  • Load photo paper in the tray.
  • Select the photo paper type in the printer software.
    • Windows: Go to Print Properties > Features tab > Paper type > Select the appropriate photo paper.
    • Mac: Go to Printer Settings > Paper type > Select the appropriate photo paper.

2. Update Printer Firmware:

Updating the printer firmware ensures your printer has the latest updates which can fix various printing issues.

Steps to Update Firmware:

  • From the printer control panel, touch the ePrint icon.
  • Wait for the printer to connect to the ePrint server.
  • Touch Settings > Printer Update > Check for Update Now.

3. Align and Clean the Print Cartridges:

Aligning and cleaning the print cartridges can help improve print quality and resolve color issues.

Automatically Align Print Cartridges:

  • Open the printer software.
  • Select Tools.
  • Click on Align Print Cartridges and follow the on-screen instructions.

Cleaning Print Cartridges:

  • Open the HP DeskJet Toolbox.
  • Click Clean the Print Cartridges and follow the on-screen directions.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
