I have cleaned my cartridges (gone up to a level 3 cleaning 3 times). I have “aligned” until the alignment passed. I have brand new hp ink cartridges in my printer, and it is still printing poorly. There are still gaps in my printing. Meaning when I print photos there are “stripes” on the images and when I am printing text, it will cut out full or partial lines of text. I’ve run all the cleaning and aligning programs multiple times and it still isn’t great. This is a recent problem. Any other ideas to help fix this?

@APhi81, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding print quality issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It looks like you've already tried multiple cleaning cycles and alignment procedures, but your HP ENVY 7640 is still printing with gaps and stripes. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
Manually Clean the Printhead
- Turn off the printer and remove the ink cartridges.
- Gently wipe the printhead contacts (inside the printer where the cartridges sit) using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Let it dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Check Paper & Print Settings
- Use HP-branded paper or high-quality inkjet paper.
- Ensure your print settings are correct:
- Open the print dialog on your computer.
- Go to Printer Properties or Advanced Settings.
- Set the print quality to "Best" or "High."
Try a Different Cartridge
- Even though your cartridges are new, sometimes defective ink cartridges can cause these issues.
- If possible, try a different genuine HP cartridge to check if the issue persists.
Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware & Drivers
- Go to HP website and check for any firmware updates for your printer.
- Uninstall and reinstall your printer drivers on your computer.
Reset the Printer
- Power cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 5 minutes, and then turn it back on.
- Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
