Hi @Goosegog1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the blue color is not printing correctly on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series printer, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the blue ink cartridge is not empty. You can do this through the printer's control panel or by using the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.

Clean Print Heads:

  • Print heads can get clogged and affect print quality. Most printers, including the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series, have a built-in utility for cleaning print heads. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to access and run this utility.

Use the Printer's Cleaning Function:

  • Many printers have a cleaning function that can be initiated through the printer's menu. This function helps clear any dried ink or debris that might be blocking the ink flow. Again, consult your printer's manual for specific instructions.

Check for Air Bubbles:

  • Sometimes, air bubbles can form in the ink cartridge, preventing proper ink flow. Gently tap the ink cartridge on a flat surface to dislodge any air bubbles. Avoid shaking the cartridge vigorously.

Align the Print Heads:

  • Your printer may have an alignment feature that ensures the correct positioning of the print heads. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to initiate a print head alignment.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes lead to printing issues.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP website to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve various issues and improve printer performance.

Try a Different Blue Cartridge:

  • If you have another blue ink cartridge available, try using it to see if the problem persists. This will help determine whether the issue is with the cartridge itself.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor glitches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
