I have just unpacked my HP office jet pro8130e. The cartridge holder has not moved from the right hand side into a position where I can load the ink. I have turned it on and off, but now it says load paper.

@AlexS1231, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e's cartridge holder is stuck, which may happen due to a few reasons, especially when it's a brand-new printer. Let's troubleshoot this:

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source for about 10-15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn the printer on. This can help reset the printer and might resolve the stuck cartridge holder.

Manually Check the Cartridge Holder:

  • Open the printer’s front access panel to check if there’s any obstruction.
  • If the holder is stuck on the right side, gently try to move it by hand. Make sure not to force it, as this could damage the mechanism.
  • Look for any physical blockages (tape, packing material, or paper) that might have been left behind after unpacking.

Paper Error Message:

  • The "load paper" message may appear if the printer senses that there is no paper loaded, which can sometimes happen if it has not completed its initial setup.
  • Make sure the paper tray is loaded with paper, as the printer may need this to proceed with its setup.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If the printer displays any specific error codes related to the stuck cartridge holder, take note of them. This will help narrow down the issue.

If the printer keeps prompting to load paper and never initializes the cartridge install:

  • Hold the Power button and tap Cancel (X) 3 times, then Resume () 2 times.
  • Release the power button.

And, if the cartridge holder is still stuck after following these steps, you may have to visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
