Hi @Chastain247,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's not uncommon for inkjet printer cartridges to dry up if left unused for an extended period. To address this issue, you can try the following steps.

  • Run the Printer's Cleaning Utility: Most printers have a built-in cleaning utility. Run this utility to clean the printhead and clear any dried ink.
  • Replace or Refill Cartridges: If the cartridges are completely dried up, you may need to replace them with new ones. If they are refillable, you can try refilling them with fresh ink.
  • Manually Clean Printhead: If the cleaning utility doesn't solve the issue, you can manually clean the printhead. Consult your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
  • Use Genuine Ink Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine ink cartridges compatible with your printer model. Generic or low-quality cartridges might contribute to drying issues.
  • Print Regularly: To prevent ink from drying up, it's a good practice to print something at least once a week, even if it's just a test page.
  • Store Printer Properly: If you anticipate not using the printer for an extended period, consider storing it in a cool, dry place and cover it to prevent dust from settling on the printhead.

Remember to follow your printer's manual for specific guidance on maintenance and troubleshooting

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
