HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

Had a printer head error on my 8620.  Installed new print head & replaced all new ink cartridges.  Only the cayenne & yellow ink is printing.  Have attempted most of the resets except a full factory reset.  Any other advice?

Hi @mmontag1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is still struggling with ink distribution even after replacing the printhead and cartridges. Since only cyan and yellow are printing, the issue may be related to ink flow, clogged nozzles, or firmware settings.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Run a Deep Printhead Cleaning

  • Go to Printer Settings > Maintenance > Deep Cleaning.
  • This process may take longer but can help unclog ink channels.

Check Ink Flow & Air Bubbles

  • If air bubbles form in the ink system, they can block ink flow.
  • Try printing a full-page black document to force ink through.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 5 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and restart.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • HP has a troubleshooting page for your printer model here.
  • Updating firmware may resolve ink recognition issues.

Inspect the Printhead Installation

  • Ensure the printhead is seated correctly and that the contacts are clean.
  • If possible, try reinstalling the printhead.

If the issue persists, a factory reset might be the next step. Let me know if any of these solutions help!
