Hi @Jim1130,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 551 printer is not printing blue, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the blue ink tank is not empty or low. Sometimes, even if the ink appears to be full, there might be an issue with the ink supply.
- Clean Printhead: Use the printer’s built-in utility to clean the printhead. This can help clear any clogs or dried ink that might be blocking the blue ink from printing.
- Align Printhead: Perform a printhead alignment to ensure that the printhead is properly aligned. This can be done through the printer’s settings menu.
- Inspect Printhead: If cleaning and alignment do not work, inspect the printhead for any visible damage or blockages. You might need to remove it and gently clean the contacts and nozzles with a lint-free cloth and some distilled water.
- Replace Printhead: If the printhead appears damaged or cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue, you might need to replace the printhead. Ensure you get the correct model for your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
