Automated cleanings and alignment produce a quality status page that I cannot improve beyond this:

It seems to be working better when it gets to printing Step #4 on the page.

@MattTheBruin, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Manually Clean the Printhead

Automated cleaning only goes so far. A manual clean can sometimes remove deep ink clogs:

  • Turn off the printer and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
  • Gently wipe the gold contact points on the cartridges and printhead.
  • Allow to dry completely, then reinstall.

2. Try a Different Ink Cartridge

If your ink cartridge is low, expired, or refilled, it may be causing the issue.

Swap in a new HP original cartridge to test.

3. Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

Go to HP Support > Software & Drivers and check for a firmware update for your printer.

If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.

4. Change Print Quality Settings

In Printer Preferences, set Quality to Best instead of Normal.

Test printing a different document (not a status page) to see if the issue persists.

5. Factory Reset the Printer

On the printer control panel, navigate to: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults

This will reset settings and might clear any corrupted configurations.

Reference: HP OfficeJet 6900, 8010, 8020, 8030 printers - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issue...

Let me know what happens after trying these! 😊

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
