HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I print documents, every 5-10 or so pages I have an area 1-1/4"x8-1/2" that is just missing print. It's always that size and it will happen anywhere on the document. The blank space is perfectly aligned and like the print head just decided to not print that section. I've aligned the print head, cleaned the print head, done diagnostic reports, even replaced the print head itself and nothing has fixed it. When printing the printer doesn't make any noises like it's having issues, but when I look through the documents printed there's always one or two with those blocks of information missing. I know it has nothing to do with the documents themselves because they will print to the large commercial printer perfectly fine, it's just the desk printer that is having this issue.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You can try changing the ink cartridges to see if that helps. Also, update the firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Hello! Thank you for the advice, I know it wasn't the ink cartridges but I was eventually able to update the firmware. It looks like there was a communication issue between the printer and the network so it wasn't installing updates automatically. It was previously set up to download updates automatically over wifi but something must have went sideways when Windows 10 was installed. I wasn't able to fix the network issue but I was able to update the firmware from the website. I have tested the printer yesterday and all of today and the error seems to be fixed.

Thank you!
