HP Recommended

A brand new HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer was given to me two years ago (never opened). I finally had use for it so I set it up but the ink cartridges will not align. The ink cartridges were brand new, but two years old, would this cause the failure to align, or would it be a printer issue?
