My printer used to print in color just fine, but now it always comes out in black and white. I've replaced the cartridge, checked my settings, and tried printing on my computer and the app. I select the color option but it comes out black and white. I've cleaned it several times and still nothing. The scanner also only comes out in black and white. No error messages, and I've made sure that it's up to date. Restarted it several times. The quality reports show no color, but on the app I can see that it is being used.

Hi @Shrimpai21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've tried most of the basic troubleshooting steps already. Here are some additional things to check and try.
Check Ink Levels:
- Make sure the color ink cartridges have ink in them. Sometimes new cartridges can also be faulty. Double-check the levels through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
Print Head Nozzles:
- Since you've cleaned the printer, it's worth checking if the print head nozzles are completely clogged. Run the print head cleaning utility again but follow up with a nozzle check to see if there is any improvement.
Printer Settings:
- Ensure that color printing is enabled in the printer driver settings. Sometimes the settings can revert to black and white due to software issues.
Try Different Paper:
- Use a different type of paper or brand to ensure it's not an issue with the media you're printing on.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can often resolve persistent issues by restoring default settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
Firmware Update:
- Even though you mentioned it's up to date, double-check for any new firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
Print from Different Devices:
- Try printing from another device or application to rule out any issues with your computer or the specific app you're using.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Inspect the printer for any visible signs of hardware issues or damage that might affect its color printing functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
