@dbarno, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check the Cartridge Installation
Ensure the cartridge is properly installed: Double-check that the cyan cartridge is securely seated in its slot. Sometimes, a cartridge might not be fully clicked into place, which could prevent it from working properly.
Take the cyan cartridge out and gently shake it from side to side (about 5-6 times) to ensure the toner is distributed inside. Then, reinstall it properly.
Check for Protective Tape
New cartridges often come with protective tape or a plastic cover. If any of this has been left on the cartridge, it could block the ink flow.
Run a Cleaning Cycle
HP printers have a built-in cleaning function that helps clear any blockages in the print head. You can usually find this option in the printer's control panel or software.
Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance on the printer or use the HP Smart app to run a cleaning cycle.
Print a Test Page
Print a test page or a color alignment page to check if the cyan ink is being dispensed. This can sometimes identify if the issue is specific to the cyan cartridge or if it's a broader issue with the print head.
On your printer: Go to Settings > Tools > Printer Maintenance > Print Quality Report.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
