My Printer is giving an Error that says "Supply System Problem". I cannot print. I have changed the indicated cartridges. I have done a factory reset. I have done the hard restart. removed and returned the cartridges in place. I have even removed the cartridge housing and put it back. Does any person know the fix?

Thanks

Hi @IanK52,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this is, especially after already trying cartridge replacement, factory reset, hard reset, and reseating the cartridge carriage. The “Supply System Problem” message usually points to an ink system communication issue, and recommend going through the steps below carefully to isolate the cause.

Please try the following:

  1. Verify that all installed cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and are compatible with your printer model.
  2. Open the cartridge access door and remove all cartridges.
    Removing the ink cartridge
  3. Check for:
    • Protective tape is still attached
    • Ink leakage or damaged cartridges
    • Dirt or residue on the copper-colored contacts
  4. Clean the cartridge electrical contacts and matching contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely.
Cleaning the vent on the cartridge
  5. Reinstall the cartridges firmly into their correct color slots until they click into place.
  6. Close the cartridge access door.

Next, perform the printer reset exactly as recommended:

  1. Keep the printer turned ON.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord directly back into the wall outlet.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

If the error continues, recommend updating the printer firmware using the HP App or the Embedded Web Server if accessible.

Please use the official HP troubleshooting guide below and follow the steps exactly as listed for the “Supply System Problem” error: HP Printers - An 'Ink System Failure,' 'System Supply Problem' or 'Supply System Problem' Error Disp...

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
