@PrajnaC, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble with your HP DeskJet 2776 printer after replacing the ink cartridge. Let's go through some steps to help resolve this issue.
Check Cartridge Compatibility
You can verify cartridge compatibility here: Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support
Remove and Reinstall the Cartridges
Sometimes, the cartridge may not be seated properly:
- Turn on the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the cartridges and check for any protective tape—make sure it's completely removed.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
Dust or ink residue can cause recognition issues:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Let everything dry for a few minutes before reinserting.
Reset the Printer
A simple reset can sometimes fix recognition errors:
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
Update Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause cartridge errors:
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page - HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2776 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
