HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer

Every time I print with my HP ENVY 6020e brown or beige it always turns out very yellow. I want to print whole background pages, the printer works fine when the brown/beige parts are just little but with the whole page it’s always yellow. I thought it’s an issue with my ink cartridges so I inserted new ones but the problem is still there. I followed all the steps in my app to align the printer and clean the printer head but no success. It doesn’t show any error messages. I purchased high quality printables so it would be great to be able to print them out. Any help is highly appreciated!

HI @nocturnallisa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 6020e is printing brown or beige as yellow, despite using new cartridges and performing maintenance tasks, the issue could be related to color calibration or printer settings. Here’s a comprehensive guide to troubleshoot and resolve the color accuracy issue:

1. Check Color Settings

  • Printer Settings: Access the printer settings on your computer and ensure that the color management settings are configured correctly. Look for options related to color profiles and make sure they are set to default or the correct profile for your print job.

2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause color issues. Download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

3. Perform a Color Calibration

  • Printer Calibration: Many printers have a built-in calibration or color adjustment tool. Check the printer settings or HP Smart app for any options related to color calibration or alignment. Follow the instructions to calibrate the printer.

4. Check Ink Cartridges

Verify Cartridges: Double-check that you have installed the correct ink cartridges and that they are properly seated. Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges for the best color accuracy.

Cartridge Status: Check the status of each ink cartridge in the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app. Ensure that none of the cartridges are low or empty.

5. Clean Printhead

  • Printhead Cleaning: Although you’ve already cleaned the printhead, it’s worth trying again. Follow the instructions in the HP Smart app or printer manual to perform a thorough printhead cleaning.

6. Check Paper Type

  • Paper Compatibility: Ensure that you are using the correct type of paper for your print job. Some types of paper can affect color reproduction. Use high-quality paper that is recommended for your printer.

7. Check Color Profiles

  • Color Profile Settings: In the print settings on your computer, check the color profiles used for printing. Sometimes incorrect color profiles can cause color discrepancies. Set it to “Automatic” or the default profile for your printer.

8. Print a Test Page

  • Test Page: Print a color test page to check if the colors are correct. The test page will help identify if the issue is with specific colors or a broader color problem.

9. Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Diagnostic Tool: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. It can diagnose and fix common printing issues, including color problems.

10. Reset Printer Settings

  • Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work, consider performing a factory reset on the printer. This will restore the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer manual or HP’s support website for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
