My printer has recently been printing things with horizontal lines of missing ink across images (especially in black or dark areas) and no pink/red tones. I ran the "Clean Printhead" tool about twenty times last night and that helped a lot with the black ink. It did not seem to do anything for the missing pink/red tones. I tried printing a mostly black image today and it still had the lines of missing ink across it. I did "Clean Printhead" again and it seemed to have regressed compared to the last one I printed last night. I am using Ventura 13.2.1 Mac OS but I did not see that as an option above. I've never had any problems with this printer until the issue described above in the past month or so.

I updated the drivers, ran the clean print head function again, and tried turning it off and unplugging it. Then I tried switching out the color ink cartridge one last time, and it finally started printing with magenta again. I had already tried a couple other ink cartridges and it hadn't made a difference but for some reason this time it did.

Hi @disco_nap,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds frustrating, especially with the missing ink in the pink/red tones.
Given that you've already run the "Clean Printhead" tool multiple times and noticed some improvement with black ink, but not for the pink/red tones, it could indicate a clog in the printhead or an issue with the ink cartridges themselves.
As you're using macOS Ventura 13.2.1, it's important to ensure you're using the most up-to-date drivers and software. I recommend trying the following steps:
Check HP’s Official Support for macOS Ventura
Go to HP's driver page and search for your printer model (HP ENVY 5530). Make sure you have the latest drivers compatible with macOS Ventura 13.2.1.
Run Printhead Cleaning Again
Run the printhead cleaning tool one more time, but this time choose the 'Deep Clean' option if available.
Check Ink Cartridges
Even though you've been cleaning the printhead, sometimes the cartridges themselves may be running low or drying out, especially for specific colors. Try replacing the ink cartridge for the missing color and see if that resolves the issue.
Perform a Printer Reset
Turn off your printer, unplug it for a minute, and then plug it back in. This can help reset the printer and might clear any ongoing issues.
Please let me know if any of these steps help or if the issue persists. I’ll be happy to assist you further!"
