HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

Hello,

I have a printer that recently stopped printing. It was working fine and now every color works besides black. I have cleaned the ink and it looks like it is trying to use the black ink but it is pooling on the side.

Hi @angel2233,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 is not printing black ink, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Ink Levels: Even if the cartridges are new, ensure the black ink cartridge is properly installed and has enough ink.

Clean Printhead: Since you mentioned cleaning the ink, make sure you run the printhead cleaning process from the printer's control panel or the HP software. This might help if the printhead nozzles are clogged.

  • Go to Printer Maintenance or Tools on the printer's display menu.
  • Select Clean Printhead.

Check for Printhead Alignment: Sometimes, misalignment can cause printing issues. You can usually find the alignment option in the printer's settings menu.

Inspect Ink Cartridges: Remove the black ink cartridge and check for any protective tape that might still be attached. Ensure it's correctly seated in the printer.

Print a Diagnostic Page: This can help you determine if the issue is with the black ink specifically. Most printers have a diagnostic or test page option in the settings menu.

Reset the Printer: Try turning off the printer, unplugging it for about a minute, then plugging it back in and turning it on.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers: Sometimes driver issues can cause printing problems. Check for updates or reinstall the printer drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
