HP OfficeJet 8022 All-in-One Printer

Hello, I am having problems with printing. It turns out that my printer is only printing in black. I already checked the configuration and that is not it. I also checked if the printheads were clean but it seems that it only recognizes that I have black ink even though it recognizes the other colors.

Hi @Hashdown,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 8022 is having trouble printing in colors, even though it recognizes the other ink cartridges. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Ink Cartridge Levels: Even though the printer recognizes the cartridges, it's important to ensure that the color cartridges have sufficient ink. Sometimes the printer can show that the cartridges are installed, but they may still be low or empty.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on. This may help to reset the printer and clear any potential issues causing it to only print in black.

Run the Printer's Ink System Diagnostic:

  • Go to the printer's control panel.
  • Navigate to the Tools or Maintenance section.
  • Select Print Quality Diagnostic Report or Ink System Diagnostic Report. This will show if there are any issues with the color cartridges or printhead.

Clean the Printheads Again:

  • Even though you checked, try cleaning the printheads one more time through the printer's control panel.
  • Go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead. This can resolve any clogs that might be preventing the color ink from printing.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve unexpected behavior.

Try Using a Different Paper Type: If you're printing on special paper, try switching to regular paper to ensure that the paper type isn't affecting the color printing.

Replace Cartridges if Necessary: If you continue having issues and the color cartridges are low or empty, consider replacing them with new ones, even if the printer recognizes them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
