My HP printer prints a test page okay. It prints blank when I try to print a saved document.

Hi @DianaFrank,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is able to print a test page successfully but prints blank when you try to print a saved document, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Ink or Toner Levels:

  • Make sure that your printer has sufficient ink or toner. Low ink levels can result in blank pages. Check the ink or toner cartridges and replace them if necessary.

Run Printer Diagnostic Tools:

  • Most printers come with diagnostic tools or utilities that can help identify and resolve common issues. Check your printer's manual or the HP website for diagnostic tools specific to your model.

Verify Document Content:

  • Ensure that the document you are trying to print actually contains content. Open the document on your computer and check if the text and images are visible. If the document is blank on your computer, the issue may be with the document itself.

Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check Print Settings:

  • Confirm that the print settings are configured correctly. Open the print dialog when printing a document and ensure that the correct printer is selected. Also, check for any unusual print settings, such as printing in grayscale or draft mode, which could result in blank pages.

Paper Type and Quality:

  • Verify that you are using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer. Using incompatible or poor-quality paper can affect print results.

Print a Different Document:

  • Try printing a different document to see if the issue persists. This will help determine whether the problem is specific to one document or if it's a more general printing issue.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and your computer can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then restart both the printer and your computer.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting software or background processes that may interfere with the printing process. Close unnecessary applications and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

When I print a test page, the tech size is perfect. When I scan a doc to my computer, it looks perfectly normal, but when I view it or print it, the text is super super extra large?
