Printer prints faintly and no black

OfficeJet Pro 6970
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

My printer is not printing black ink and if it prints anything it comes out purples and faded. Print jobs only get through sporadically, whether I connect via USB to my laptop or wirelessly, and whether I print from the doc itself or through the HP Print app. I have added a new cartridge and it did not help. 

 

Have also tried running the tests online, cleaning the printhead and aligning the printhead. In each instance the document that printed out after had the colored bits on but not the black bits, and were very faded.

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

 

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

 

If the issue persists even after replacing the ink cartridge, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printhead. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
