Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding damaged ink cartridge issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is not recognizing the new ink cartridges. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that you're using genuine HP cartridges (HP 950/951 series).
  • If they are third-party or refilled cartridges, they might not be recognized.

2. Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the cartridge access door and remove all cartridges.
  • Inspect them for any protective tape—if present, remove it.
  • Reinsert them firmly into their slots and close the door.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges.
  • Let them dry before reinserting them.

4. Restart the Printer

  • Unplug the power cable while the printer is ON.
  • Wait 2–3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it ON.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer to check for any firmware updates.
  • You can also update it via the HP Support website

Let me know if you need any further help!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
