HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw

A few days ago, I went to print something and there was no power to my printer. It was just dead. I tried a different outlet thinking that may be the problem, but it's not. The printer is just over 3 years old and was not cheap! Any ideas as to why it would just die out of nowhere? Is this printer just crappy???

Hi @Bethmn82

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It’s definitely frustrating when a printer suddenly stops powering on, especially when it’s still relatively new. Here are some possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can take to determine why your printer isn’t turning on and hopefully fix the issue:

1. Check the Power Cable and Plug

  • Verify the Power Cable: Double-check that the power cord is securely plugged into both the printer and the electrical outlet. Sometimes the connection can become loose.
  • Try a Different Power Cable: If you have a spare power cable that’s compatible with the printer, try using that to rule out any issues with the original power cord.

2. Confirm the Power Outlet

  • Test the Outlet: Even though you tried a different outlet, it’s good to confirm that it’s working. Plug a different device (like a lamp or phone charger) into the same outlet to ensure it’s providing power.
  • Use a Different Outlet: Try using a different wall outlet (preferably one on a separate circuit) to rule out potential outlet issues.

3. Check for Power Button Issues

  • Check Power Button: Press and hold the power button for at least 10-15 seconds. If the printer has a touch screen, make sure there are no stuck buttons or screen malfunctions that could prevent the printer from turning on.
  • Look for Any Indicator Lights: If there are any lights or status indicators, see if they light up or blink in any way, which could provide clues to the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
