Product: HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

I recently got this printer from a friend and it came with the manual, the alignment page, and the important printer setup instructions which i assume gets printed from the printer, so it must have worked before? The printer is the HP ENVY 5530, and when i got it, it said on the screen "Ink Cartridge Problem The following Cartridge(s) must be replaced" and it has the color and the black ink symbols. There was already both of the needed ink Cartridges in the printer so I ordered some off of Amazon but when I switched them out it still had the same pop-up. the type of ink cartridges I put in the print are the 61-xl which said was compatible and in the printer it says it takes 61, so i assumed 61-xl would be ok. Just to note I have tried unplugging from the wall outlet (not a power strip) and waiting 60 seconds to plug it back in, and I have cleaned both the circuits on the cartridges and the printer.  Note that there was already black and color ink cartridges in it and they were made by HP, so I thought they just ran out of ink, but as i mentioned above even after replacing, it still says that error message.
