Hi @Val10111,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP printer indicates that a cartridge is not communicating correctly, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check the Cartridge Installation
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
- Open the printer cover and carefully remove the cartridge.
- Inspect the cartridge for any protective tape or plastic that may not have been removed.
- Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
Clean the Contacts
- Power off the printer and remove the cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth or coffee filter to gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts in the printer. Ensure they are free from dust or ink residue.
- Reinsert the cartridge and power on the printer.
Reset the Printer
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.
Check for Errors in Software
- If you're using a computer, check the printer software for any error messages or alerts that might indicate further issues.
- Try printing a test page from the printer’s control panel or from your computer.
Try Another Cartridge
- If possible, try using another cartridge (if you have one available) to see if the issue is with the cartridge itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
