Hi @Storage-man25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is displaying an error message indicating that the ink cartridges are not installed correctly, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue.

  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the printer cover or cartridge access door and carefully remove all the ink cartridges. Check for any protective tape or covers on the cartridges and remove them if present. Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their respective slots and close the cover or door.
  • Clean the contacts: Ink residue or dust on the cartridge contacts can interfere with proper communication between the cartridge and the printer. Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the cartridges and locate the copper-colored contacts on them. Gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab moistened with distilled water. Allow the cartridges to dry, then reinsert them into the printer.
  • Check for any obstructions: Inspect the cartridge slots and make sure there are no obstructions or debris that may prevent the cartridges from seating properly. If you notice any blockages, carefully remove them using a soft brush or cloth.
  • Update printer firmware: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model. If updates are available, follow the instructions provided to download and install them. Firmware updates can sometimes fix cartridge-related issues.
  • Replace the ink cartridges: If the problem persists after trying the above steps, it's possible that the ink cartridges themselves are faulty or incompatible with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
