Hi @VictorHolt ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 6950 printer is showing a cartridge problem despite inserting new HP cartridges, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover and make sure the cartridges are securely and properly inserted into their respective slots.

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Take out the cartridges, turn off the printer, and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and check if the error persists.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and turn the printer back on.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Check if the cartridge problem persists.

Inspect for Ink Leaks:

  • Check for any ink leaks inside the printer. If you notice a lot of ink at the bottom, it could be a sign of a leak. Clean any spilled ink carefully.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
