I have a HP Office Jet Pro 8710.  I use it as a backup printer. I recently replaced the ink cartridges and it gave me an alert that states it cannot use the cartridges unless I am enrolled in Instant Ink. I do not want to be enrolled. How do I correct this problem and proceed in using my printer?

@debbieb53, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding 'Cannot Use Cartridge Unless Enrolled in HP Instant Ink' Error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issue you are encountering is related to the HP Instant Ink cartridges that require the printer to be enrolled in HP Instant Ink. To resolve this and continue using your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 without enrollment in Instant Ink, follow these steps:

Remove the Instant Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer's cartridge access door and remove the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer.
  • Ensure that you have original HP Ink or Toner cartridges ready.

Purchase Regular HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Obtain regular (non-Instant Ink) HP cartridges that are compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. These can be purchased from authorized retailers or directly from the HP Store.

Install HP Cartridges:

  • Install the regular HP ink cartridges into your printer. Make sure to match the cartridge colors to the corresponding slots in the printer.

Check Printer Status:

  • After installing the cartridges, ensure that your printer recognizes them and is ready for printing. You may need to perform a test print.

Turn Off Web Services (if applicable):

  • Sometimes, printers enrolled in Instant Ink have Web Services turned on. Check your printer's settings to make sure Web Services are turned off to prevent any enrollment prompts.

Ensure Printer Connection:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to your computer or network properly. This can be a wired or wireless connection depending on your setup.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
