HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

My HP 7740 printer shows an empty black cartridge error, but I have tried installing FOUR brand new HP cartridges and none of them fix the issue. Can anyone help, and does anyone have an HP tech support actual phone number where I can speak tp a person? Thanks! Rob

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer. If you've already tried installing four brand new HP cartridges and are still encountering the "empty black cartridge" error, there could be a few potential reasons for this problem.

 

  • Cartridge compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you're using are compatible with your HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer model. Sometimes, using incompatible or non-genuine cartridges can cause errors.
  • Cartridge installation: Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly. Sometimes, cartridges may not be inserted fully or may not click into place properly, leading to detection errors.
  • Printer firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve cartridge detection issues.
  • Printer contacts: Clean the cartridge contacts and corresponding contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Dust or debris on the contacts can interfere with communication between the cartridge and the printer.
  • Reset the printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues causing the error.
