HP Recommended

I have a 2600 Deskjet and put a new tri-color cartridge in.  The light keeps blinking and nothing will copy--not even the black.  I have unplugged the printer several times, put the old cartridge back in and new one in again--still not working. I thought I could maybe uninstall the printer and re-install it, however it won't allow me to do that either.
