My printer will not print the blue/cyan and I don't understand why. I topped off all the colors, clean print heads, aligned, clean for smear and done a diagnostic test and it still will not print.

Hi @nioname,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand your HP Smart Tank 7002 will not print cyan despite full ink levels, alignment, and head cleaning. Here is our recommended troubleshooting process for Smart Tank models when one color is missing:
Step 1: Confirm Ink Is Flowing Properly
Even if the tank is full, the ink line to the printhead may have air bubbles or blockage.
- Check ink levels visually (not just in software).
- Gently squeeze the cyan tank (if it's soft-sided) to push ink through the tube (do not force it).
- On the printer screen or HP Smart app, run the “Printhead Cleaning” again — but this time do it 2–3 times in a row, allowing rest between each.
- Go to: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead
Repeated cleanings can help force ink flow through a blocked or air-filled line.
Step 2: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
From the printer touchscreen or HP Smart app:
- Go to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report
Carefully examine the cyan blocks — if it’s completely missing:
- The cyan channel in the printhead may be clogged or defective.
Step 3: Remove and Inspect the Printhead
On Smart Tank printers, the printhead is user-removable:
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait for the printhead to stop moving.
- Unlock and carefully remove the printhead unit.
- Check for:
- Dry/clogged cyan nozzles (especially if the printer was unused for a while)
- Ink residue or damage
You can try gently cleaning the printhead manually:
Manual Cleaning (Only if Comfortable):
- Dab the cyan nozzle area with a damp, lint-free cloth.
- Run a cleaning cycle immediately after reinstalling.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
