Printer began to skip lines of text, or print only partially.  Installed new HP original cartridges and now print onl;y blank pages.  Tried printer head cleaning three times and then used a cleaning kit twice to no avail.. How do I correct the problem?

HI @Pockets68,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is printing blank pages despite installing new HP original cartridges and performing multiple cleaning cycles, here are some detailed troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

1. Basic Troubleshooting

**a. Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Verify Installation: Make sure the new cartridges are properly installed. They should click into place firmly.
  • Remove and Reinsert: Remove the cartridges and reinsert them to ensure they are seated correctly.

**b. Inspect for Packaging Material:

  • Remove Protective Tape: Ensure that any protective tape or packaging material on the cartridges has been removed.

**c. Check for Proper Ink Levels:

  • Verify Ink Levels: Even though the cartridges are new, ensure they are not empty or defective.

2. Printer Head Cleaning

**a. Run Printer Head Cleaning Again:

  • Access from Printer Menu: Use the printer’s menu to run the printer head cleaning process. Sometimes multiple cycles are needed.

**b. Use Printer Software for Cleaning:

  • HP Printer Utility: Use the HP Printer Utility on your computer to run the cleaning process. This can be more thorough than the manual process.

3. Print Head Alignment

**a. Align Print Head:

  • Run Alignment: Access the print head alignment option from your printer’s menu or through the HP software on your computer. Proper alignment can resolve printing issues.

4. Check for Software Issues

**a. Update Printer Drivers:

  • Download Latest Drivers: Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

**b. Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Sometimes reinstalling the printer software can resolve issues. Uninstall the current software and then reinstall it from the HP website.

5. Inspect and Clean Print Head

**a. Manual Cleaning:

  • Turn Off Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove Cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Clean Print Head: Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean the print head area.
  • Allow to Dry: Let the print head dry completely before reinserting the cartridges and powering on the printer.

6. Check Printer Settings

**a. Ensure Correct Paper Type:

  • Paper Settings: Make sure that the paper type and size settings in the printer software match the paper you are using.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Rachel571.  I did everythibg you suggested.  Checked the cartridges three ways to Sunday, have plenty of paper, cartridges are brand new and full of ink.  Printer went through four head cleaning processes, but unfortunately my printer is our of warranty and HP is therfore saying F**K YOU.  When all the advice you have given me, and which I have followed fails, WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?
