Printing a completely black inked page

Product: HP Deskjet 2542
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
It printed several vertical black lines on a page so I ran the diagnostic. Now it is printing an entire page with black ink. I have 2 completely black pages now; I don't want to waste any more ink. Do I need to buy a new printer?
