How do I make the printer print darker

Hi @Edp8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 2734e printer is printing lighter than expected. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check ink levels

Open the HP Smart app and confirm that all ink levels are above the minimum line.

Low black ink can make prints appear faded.

Run Print Quality Tools

Open the HP Smart app → Printer SettingsPrint Quality Tools.

First select Clean Printhead, then test a print. If still light, run Clean Printhead one more time.

Check Paper Type Settings

In the print window, go to Preferences / Print Settings.

Set Paper Type to match your paper (e.g., Plain, Matte, Photo).

Using the wrong paper profile can reduce print density.

Change Print Quality to Best or High

In print settings, change Print Quality from Normal to Best.

This increases ink density and produces darker text.

Turn Off “Economy Mode” or “Draft”

Make sure Draft or Economy printing is not enabled.

These modes use less ink and always print lighter.

Try a Different Paper

Some thin or glossy papers don’t absorb pigment well, making prints look faded.

Test with standard 75–90 gsm office paper.

Print a Diagnostic Page

From the printer control panel (buttons), press and hold the Information (i) button until lights blink and a test page prints.

Check if the black areas look faded, streaky, or uneven.

I hope this helps.
