I’m just wondering why when I print some pictures it doesn’t look like the photo, the black is distorted and greens with any depth also are distorted. I cleaned the cartridges, ran the cleaning tools, I tried using (I print from hp app) some editing tools and it creates little mm vertical lines on darker colours, if I increase the white it stops doing that but makes the green in the picture look like ive used almost like a “paint” feature. I’ve tried several editing tools (exposure, clarity etc) but can’t seem to print them to look like the actual photo! Any ideas? Is the printer just not capable of this tone?!?!

@Stixtoria, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the print quality of photos is not satisfactory. To assist you better,

  • What type and size of photo paper are you using?
  • Have you tried printing the same photo on regular paper and check the print quality?
  • Have you tried printing different photos?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on the iOS device

Try printing using the AirPrint driver to check if that helps.

  1. Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon ( or ).

  2. Tap Print or the Print icon .

  3. Select your printer, and then change print settings such as paper size, number of copies, or page range. Available settings depend on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

  4. Tap Print.

I have tried other pictures. They are fine. Just seems to be an issue with this one particular photo. It’s a green velvet chair and it just can’t seem to print it the way it looks in the photo. I have tried printing from photos directly as well. It’s very frustrating! The picture is very important to me otherwise I wouldn’t care but I would hate to have to get it printed somewhere just to get a quality print as this was the reason I bought the printer was specifically for photos!

@Stixtoria

I understand. However, as the issue is only with one photo, we cannot conclude if the issue is with the printer or the software. The printer prints other photos fine. It means the printer and the software is working fine.

I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region for further assistance.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
