Hi, I normally print to A4 sheets. When I print to A5, small vertical dashes appear on the right side of the page, at half a cm from the edge of the sheet. The dashes correspond to printed lines. That is, if a line is blank, no vertical dashes are printed on the right, but if a line or an image is printed, a vertical dash is also printed on the right side of the page, which is exactly as tall as the line heigth—say, shorter dashes for lines with 8pt characters, longer ones for lines with 14pt characters. If I'm printing images, the dashes on the right are as tall as the image.
I have tried to print from different programs: Libreoffice, a pdf viewer/editor, an image editor, all of them set to A5 printing. None of these programs showed the dashes in print preview mode, but the dashes came out with all of them. So, I guess it has to do with the printer rather than the software, and I am a bit puzzled that this only happens when printing to A5 sheets. No extra dashes are printed on A4 sheets. It might surely be a problem with the drivers (HPLIP for Linux), I just wonder if anyone run into a similar issue or has a hunch that could help. Thanks
