Pro 6978 Will not print from app or from file.
It will print from Word though. When I try to print a PDF, it will send it to printer, printer will click a few times, then nothing.
No error codes.

Hi @discharged,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a compatibility issue between the PDF format and your printer, especially if it's printing fine from Word but not from PDFs. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can solve many printing issues. Turn off your printer, wait a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
- Check PDF File: Ensure that the PDF file you're trying to print isn't corrupted. Try printing a different PDF file to see if the issue persists.
- Print as Image: Some PDFs contain complex graphics or fonts that may not be interpreted correctly by the printer. In Adobe Reader, go to "Advanced" in the Print dialog box and check the "Print as Image" option.
- Print Queue: Check the print queue on your computer to see if the PDF documents are stuck there. Sometimes clearing the print queue can resolve printing issues.
- Printer Settings: Check the printer settings, especially paper size and type, to ensure they match the settings of the PDF document.
- Update Adobe Reader: If you're using Adobe Reader to view the PDFs, make sure it's up to date. Sometimes, older versions of PDF viewers can cause compatibility issues with printers.
- Test with Different Software: Try printing the PDF from a different PDF viewer or software to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the PDF file or the printing software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
