Hi @silverfox591,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re having trouble installing the black ink cartridge in your HP 8130e printer, even though it came in the packaging with your new printer, here are some steps to help you resolve the issue:
1. Check the Cartridge and Printer
- Ensure the black ink cartridge is the correct type for your HP 8130e printer. Check the cartridge number against the printer’s specifications.:
- Remove the cartridge from its packaging and inspect it for any visible damage or protective tape that might still be on it. Make sure all protective strips or covers are removed.
- Look inside the printer’s cartridge slot for any obstructions or debris. Make sure the slot is clean and clear.
2. Proper Installation Procedure
- Make sure the printer is on, then open the cartridge access door to expose the cartridge slots.
- Remove the black ink cartridge from its packaging. Gently remove any protective plastic tape or covers from the cartridge.
- Insert the black ink cartridge into the correct slot. The cartridge should click into place. Make sure you’re inserting it into the slot marked for black ink.
- Ensure the cartridge is seated firmly in the slot. You may need to press down slightly until it clicks into place.
- Close the cartridge access door and make sure it latches securely.
3. Check Printer Status
- After closing the access door, the printer should recognize the new cartridge. Check the printer display for any error messages or prompts.
- Run a printer self-test or alignment to check if the cartridge is installed correctly and functioning.
4. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- After the printer powers up, reinsert the black ink cartridge to see if the issue is resolved.
5. Update Printer Firmware:
- Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP 8130e printer. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
6. Check for Error Messages:
- If the printer displays an error message or status indicator related to the cartridge, refer to the printer’s user manual or HP Support for troubleshooting steps specific to the error code.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
