If your HP printer displays a message indicating that the printing functionality is disabled despite replacing the cartridge, you might be experiencing issues related to the cartridge's recognition or compatibility. Below are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using a genuine HP cartridge that is compatible with your specific printer model. Refer to the printer’s documentation or the HP website for compatible cartridges.
Reinstall Cartridge:
- Remove the cartridge from its slot.
- Inspect the cartridge for any protective tape or packaging that might still be attached.
- Reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it is correctly oriented.
Clean Cartridge Electrical Contacts: Sometimes, poor electrical contact between the cartridge and the printer can cause issues. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.

Firmware Update: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes updates can resolve compatibility and recognition issues.
Reset Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
