My printer is a 5520, but the same fault occurred a few days ago. Sometimes prints only some letters of each word in the text and always very light grey. On best print quality it will print very light grey, but all text.  Changing text to another (e.g. Blue) colour and it prints just fine, but black doesn't work.

Print quality sheets print fine but not my documents ????

Have changed cartridges twice, cleaned print head, etc, still not fixed.

@CraigJAA, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the printer is not printing black. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps. To print a print quality report the printer requires a very little amount of ink.

Try making a standalone copy in black and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues, and the issue persists, I'm afraid it is an issue with the printer as you have already replaced the black ink cartridge.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
