Hi @Stephaniepaints
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni is printing images that are out of alignment, here are some steps you can take to realign the printer:
Run the Print Alignment Tool:
- Open the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
- Go to the Maintenance or Tools section.
- Look for an option to Align the Printer or Print Alignment Page and follow the prompts.
Use the Control Panel:
- On the printer, press the Setup button (usually represented by a wrench icon).
- Navigate to Tools and select Print Quality or Align Printer. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment.
Check Print Quality Settings:
- In your print settings (accessible from the print dialog when printing), ensure that you're using the correct quality settings for your print job. Sometimes, settings can affect alignment.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP Support website and download any available updates for your model.
Check for Paper Issues:
- Make sure you’re using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Misalignment can occur if the paper is loaded incorrectly.
- Check the paper tray and ensure the guides are snug against the paper without bending it.
Clean the Printer:
- Dust or debris on the rollers or inside the printer can cause alignment issues. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the rollers and interior.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If alignment issues persist, there could be a mechanical problem with the printer. Ensure all internal parts are seated correctly and free of obstructions.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
