Deskjet 6958

My printer stated that it was out of colored ink. I thought it was unusually early, but replaced the cartridges. The new ink cartridges were installed on Feb 9, 2021, and have been used only to print approximately 10-20 pages. A couple additional pages were printed to clean the printheads.

Suddenly today it is showing that all three colored ink cartridges are "low" and will not print from my phone.

Here are the steps I have followed:

1) Attempted to update all firmware, drivers, and software. Nothing was out of date.

2) Verified expiration dates on HP cartridges (11/22 and 10/22)

3) removed the cartridges and re-installed them.

4) Run the print & scan doctor which found nothing wrong.

5) Printed the "printer status report"

Anything I'm missing? Is this a known issue? I attempted to contact HP using the assistant, which suggested I call directly, but after an hour on hold, I could no longer wait for someone to answer. My Deskjet is well beyond warranty, but I hate to replace it already! Is 2-3 years the new lifespan for printers used only for at home personal use?

TIA for any ideas!

Hi @Pawprints85,

I'd like to help!

Actual yield will vary depending upon the amount of content on the page. Highly "dense" documents, such as the text document, may yield fewer pages than the ISO standard, while less dense ones would yield more pages than the standard. Printing that uses primarily one color could cause lower yields for that color, and higher yields for colors not heavily used. The yield you experience will depend upon the content that you print.

As the printer printed only 20 pages, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region for replacement options.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
