HP ENVY 5010 All-in-One Printer

I moved from the UK to the US with an HP envy printer. Trying to use US cartridges on the printer and wont work as need to be re regionalized. Called HP support to have this done and was told that I needed my old uk cartridges (which have been thrown out, they were junk) in order to re regionalize. Certainly this cant be true? I'm shocked at how difficult HP has made it to move country with their products. Really customer unfriendly.

Hi @PaulMrock

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thanks. This didnt work.

As way of background I spent half an hour on the phone with HP support yesterday who told me categorically that re regionalozation isnt possible since I didnt keep my old printer cartridges from the country from which I moved. I've honestly been shocked at how difficult this has been - I am only trying to use an HP printer with HP products both of which I have purchased.

This is just a continuation of the fraud/poor support that HP has given me. There is nothing wrong with the hardware. You suggest I need to contact HP phone support for this issue, which I have already done as noted in both of my prior posts. HP does not want to allow me to re-regionalize a printer that I own and have moved country with - that's it.

It is well within HP's power to do this very simple change for a customer, but for whatever reason refuses to.

Please advise in a public post why HP is unwilling to allow me to change the country settings on a printer which I own.

Thank you

Hi @PaulMrock,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are looking for help with a regional reset on your Printer and you did not receive any support from HP yet on resetting it.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

Which country did you move from and to?

Do you have the ink cartridges for both regions?

Do you have a printer USB cable or is it connected wirelessly?

Do you have the printer full feature software or the HP smart app and drivers installed on your PC?

If you meet the above conditions then let me know the following details:

1) The operating system of your PC, is it Windows or Mac?

2) Confirm the printer model.

Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hi @PaulMrock,

Thank you for sharing the above information.

Are you planning to continue with the instant ink service in USA as well?

OR

Are you planning to perform the regional reset with store bought ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer in USA?

Take care and have a great day ahead!

I've already purchased HP cartridges (65) in the US. This entire more than week long thread has been exclusively about re regionalizing my printer so they work with local cartridges. I really wonder if anyone at HP is actually reading these questions and/or have any interest in heling me out

Hi @PaulMrock,

Thank you for sharing the above information.

Please install the previous country ink cartridges and perform the steps given below.

If your computer is connected to the printer with a USB or wireless connection, you can open the Set New Regions window with HP Smart by following these steps.

1) Open the HP Smart app.

2) On the Home screen, click gear icon.

3) Click About, press and hold Ctrl + Shift, and then right-click on the HP Smart logo.

The region reset screen opens.

4) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in a private message.

No, as I mentioned in prior posts and in prove messages to you and other HP employees I no longer have the prior country cartridges. They were empty and I recycled them. Why on earth would anyone think that HP would require paying customers to keep these? I’ve replaced them with new cartridges from my new country and just want to be able to use them.

my goodness you are making this impossible.
